What’s a good birthday gift for a boy who is turning 12 and the family is hosting a swim party?
November 29, 2009 | In: Birthday Gifts
My son attended a summer camp with a boy who is turning 12. He was invited to his 12th birthday party and wants to attend. But, they’re just acquaintances and don’t attend school together. The boy’s family is hosting a swim party and I’m not sure what would be an appropriate gift. A gift card to Toys R Us or a gift card to a book store? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

One of those Visa cards! They are a big hit w/ boys and girls. Trust me my son got one and was thrilled! That way they can buy what ever they want when ever hey want, and are not limited to just one store! Good Luck!

I would do Target, if one is by you
They sell toys, books, CD’s and clothes

Besides the obvious Gift Card route, a Subskate is pretty cool. Its kinda like a skateboard for water — they sell them at Target, I believe, but they work amazingly well.

You can give money, that’s always a winner!
Or, you could get one of those visa cards, it makes the kid feel like they have a credit card.

A card with $20 in it! Gift cards are kinda useless. I still have 2 from Xmas I haven’t used because I can’t find anything in those stores I like.

That is hard to answer since we don’t know what the kid likes. Find out if he has an ipod and if so, get him an Itunes gift card. If not, get him a gift card to a music store so he can go pick out his own CD. By 12, in my opinion, kids start getting more into music and more mature things so I don’t Toys R Us is a great idea.
