Its going to be a very casual dinner that we’ll be taking them to, nothing fancy but I would like take them a gift. Besides flowers and cards, what could I stop at the mall and get them each? No photo frames or scrapbooks something nicer.

How about a picture of their wedding day in a silver frame (25th), or a day at the spa (men like this, too), a poem written by you about what they mean to you, etc. Think about what they like (casino, bingo, bird watching, etc.) and find a gift in that area. Good luck

Having been married over 40 years now I can tell you to avoid getting them those tacky “milestone” anniversary gifts. You know, the kind with “Happy 25th Anniversary” painted or engraved on them. They are cute the first year…then they become outdated clutter with the next anniversary. And you can’t throw the stuff away because someone who lovs you gave it to you. I have a box full of candy dishes, trinket boxes, plates and platters, and other assorted knick-knacks for our 25th, 30th, 35th and 40th anniversaries. I love that our family & friends thought enough to take the time to track these things down and wanted to give a gift but mercy!
In our case, since we love antiques, we would much more prefer a gift certificate to our favorite antique where we could pick out something for our home that would eventually get passed down to others after we pass.
If your parents don’t share a hobby you could contribute to… just think of the other things they like to do as a couple…at their lesture..and arrange to pick up the tab for it in advance.
For example:
* Tickets to an upcoming concert (performed by their favorite artist or band)
* Tickets to a local attraction that they would really like to go to(…if they could get in free because they think admission is too high). {;o).
* How about stopping at a movie theater near where your folks live and getting them a bunch of movie passes.
* Or stop at the movie rental shop they use and get them a prepaid movie rental card.
* Gift certificates for their favorite resturant is always a winner.
