One of the most unique gifts that I received for my first pregnancy was a hospital bag. Someone bought a good size bag and put shampoo, deodorant, soap, toothepaste, toothbrush, baby lotion, etc…… That was so nice. When I got home from the shower, I put it in my overnight bag and did not have to worry about packing those things. It was a life saver and I am still using it 3 years later. For my next pregnancy, I went into my bathroom closet and pulled it out.

Is it a girl or boy? I have some more unique things if I know what the sex is.

diapers, but get a size or 2up cause everyone gets the newborn ones… Get a couple of packs of size 2 diapers :) or just give cash than they do what ever they like with it :)

Somebody got us a stuffed animal that played white noise and attached to a crib/car seat. It was called a sleepy sheep. Its unusual enough that they might not already have something like that, and it was sooo great for calming baby down in the first few months, ,and for helping her soothe herself to sleep when she got a bit older.

photo albums, a Royal Doulten feeding set (I still have the Bunnykins set my mother got for me!), pamper vouchers for the mum to be, baby clothes, keepsake toys like a silver rattle.

try and find out what the mum to be is hoping for- I am hoping for cot linens and baby clothes for mine as I have everything else,
I am dreading getting lots of toys as I have already been given enough childrens toys to fill the garage to overflowing, and I cannot give them to charity because the people who gave them to me watch me like a hawk so the just sit there creating a fire hazard!

Maybe a frame which on one side allows parents to put a pic of the baby, then on the other side it can have info like the baby’s horoscope sign and maybe spaces they can fill in babies info like birth date, birth weight etc.

If they have everything they need get the mom a spa session or a gift card to pamper herself, i.e. pedicure/manicure. It’s nice to get something that’s NOT for the baby!!

My best friend paid for me and my boyfriend to have a pregnancy photo shoot. Hands down this was my FAVORITE present. The photos came out BEAUTIFUL and are up on the walls. It’s a great present b/c it lasts forever and the baby can see how beautiful his/her mom was while she was carrying.

My favorite gifts:

A quilt with my sons name on it (I hung it on the wall of his nursery).

A really nice all natural lotion set for my son.

A Target gift certificate it was so nice. We used it for emergency baby stuff and groceries.

Do they have a registry?

If not, what about a gift certificate to some place like snapfish.com, where the parents can make a scrapbook of photos of the newborn or buy birth announcements?

I think something personalized for baby, or custom made. This is my favorite site for creative and homemade baby gift ideas.

Do you sew? You could make her a baby sling
Or there are some great and easy crafts on here as well for an adorable pacifier clip or homemade alphabet blocks.

A custom diaper cake designed to match the nursery decor. Can be used to decorate while waiting for baby and then everything in the cake can be used for the new baby. Fun, beautiful and useful.
