I am a high school teacher. Every year I get invited to college graduation celebrations for past students. I’m very proud of my students and want to get them a little something besides a card. The problem- about 10 kids invite me a year and I can’t afford much of a gift for each. Any ideas for appropriate gifts to give them?

How about resume paper and envelopes. Also give them a letter of recommendation (several signed copies.)

Being a teacher myself, I understand wanting to be there for the past students and not being able to afford much of a gift. Be personal. Remember what they were like when they were in your class. You could make them something that would probably mean the world to them. Write a poem about each one individually. You could type it up and frame it with a cheap frame from somewhere. That would mean a lot to them because it would come from your heart and show them that you have always remembered them. It’ll show them that not only did you make a difference in their life, but they made a difference in yours as well.

Something that you have written about each student individually, like a poem, or you could order frames from a wholeseller, like Oriental Trading Comapny, and wriet a message on them. This way it come out to only a couple of dollars per student, and makes it easy when invited to something next year. I would definately reccomend a reccomendation letter, a couple of copies. That way, if the student doesn’t know what university they want to go to, they already have the letters when it comes to apply. They can always make copies of it for later use, and it is a great memorabelia.
