What Christmas gift can I get for a family member who just got laid off?

February 27, 2010 | In: Christmas Gifts

I’m 18 and only have around $10-$15 to get my uncle who just got laid off this week. My aunt can’t work because of a medical condition and instead of getting them a knick knack for Christmas, I want to get them something that would be beneficial to them. Also, I don’t want to get them something stupid like laundry detergent for Christmas, know what I mean? Does anyone have suggestions for a thoughtful and helpful Christmas gift?

Make them a small gift basket of food items…

Just give a Walmart gift card that can be used for groceries

A gas card is always useful.

Instead of just spending money on them, try looking around for jobs that are in your uncle’s field of expertise. type up a list and give it to them.

Socks, gloves and a hat, a snow shovel, everyday clothes like a t-shirt or you might ask your aunt what he needs and get him something from there.

A gift card would probably be best. This way he can spend the $15 dollars on something he really needs. If you want to get him a real present you can always go with something weather appropriate, like nice gloves or a hat & scarf set.

what you can do is offer to help or clean their house or just do some odd jobs that need to be done..
if they have kids watch them for a night free of charge..

I go to a departmet store or dollar store every year and i pick out two mugs and a set of matching plates. Everyone loves them especially if you put in a christmas card that says something really nice.
