    • ]]>     my husbands grandma is buying us a life insurance policy on our baby for my baby shower gift. i know this because my husbands mom told me what the gift would be. i dont think its bad to consider life insurance but i feel like its kind of a rude gift to give at a baby shower. i wish she would even talk to us about it first. and anyway this is my first baby and i need a lot of things for the baby, not life insurance right now. im thinking about the birth of my child during this happy time, not anything else. am i wrong to be upset about this?

I have not got her a gift because, after spending that much money on someone who isn’t even my “friend”, I am broker than I have been since high school.     • ]]>     I give my fiancee’s mother a birthday gift and xmas gift every year and as always I never get a gift when my birthday comes around. Should I just stop giving her presents? I did get a xmas gift, even though it was a cheap afterthought in January. Is a gift necessary to soften her attitude towards me as a future son in law?
    She never gives her other family members gifts either, I should have brought this up. Sometimes she doesn’t even give her children much of anything. She relies on the rest of her big family to get her children gifts.
