What’s an appropriate recognition of bereavment for a friend having to put their beautiful dog down?

Just visited “Oliver” for the last time. He is scheduled to be euthanized tomorrow. He has survived 18 long months of terrible cancerous tumors for a 14 year old retriever. I want to show my sympathy. What do you feel is most appropriate – a card? flowers? a memorial gift? being with the dear owner??? Thank you in advance for your compassion and empathy.

We suspect that a co-worker lied about having cancer in order to get sympathy, gifts and time off.?

She quit today in a fury of new lies which were exposed after she left. She did not use the work medical insurance, she was on her parents insurance (even though she’s over 21 she could do that while she was a student). Is there any way we could find out definitively if she really had cancer?
in reply to one of the answers: it wasnt an office, it was a small school. and there was nothing else wrong with her. she took 2 months medical leave for cancer while the rest of us broke out backs covering for her. we are a small school with not much money. we gave her 2 months paid. if she was lying, we’d like to recoup that money if for only to teach her that lying has serious and tangible consequences. not to mention that we have real cancer survivors on staff who reached out to her with money, gifts, thier time, cooking for her and all that. she’s a liar and liars shouldn’t be allowed to get away with lying. they should be confronted at the very least.

I’m 21, and I just moved out of my dad and stepmom’s place. my stepmom and I have mantained a close relationship over the years, and now that she’s having a baby of her own, I want to give the coolest baby gift a stepson can give, but I’m at a loss on what to give her. My in-laws are having a horse put to sleep tomorrow. What’s a good sympathy gift?

My husband’s parents are BIG horse enthusiasts and are having one of their favorite horses put to sleep tomorrow.

Naturally, they are very upset about it. My husband and I would like to get them a small sympathy gift to go with a card that has already been purchased.

Other than a frame with a picture of the horse, what would you recommend?
