Special gift from mommy to son when new baby comes home…..????

I’m 39 weeks pregnant with a girl and we have a 3 1/2 year old son. I would like to give my son some kind of gift when i get out of the hospital. I dont want it to just be a toy, i would like something that he will remember and keep. But at the same time be something he can enjoy now. I dont want cheesy big brother stuff. I’ve been racking my brain for months now and its coming down to the end and i cant think of anything good.
Just something special from mommy! Any ideas????

Get him a special bear from the gift shop at the hospital. He can enjoy that now, and still keep it when he’s older. Its not cheesy or anything like that. I did it with my oldest when I had my 6 yr old and she still keeps that bear with her or on her bed. And we did the same thing with my little brothers when I had my 10yr old and their bears are on their bed all the time.

Alice has a good idea. Do you have a Build A Bear store near you? That would be a fun thing to do together if daddy would keep the baby for awhile maybe a couple of days after you come home. It would be mommy and son time w/ a bonus!

I too like the bear thing, my nephew had a bear that he used as a baby imitating his mom, in how she held the baby, fed her, etc.
Another possiblity would be a special book that you and he read together. Maybe longer book such as Peter Pan, that he will cherish for a long time.

i like the build-a-bear idea too. the greatest thing you can give him tho is your time, especially with a new baby coming all of a sudden and him not being the baby any more. i have a 18month old and im due in 11 days!! and my son is already jealous of the baby. so we have plans for the baby to go to mawma’s house for a couple of hours and let me and him to have a mommy an me day!!
