Miss You This Christmas

This song was written in 2006 after an evening where a group of us from our Bible study went Christmas caroling at the VA Hospital in Loma Linda, CA. I was honored to sing for, but also saddened to see so many veterans of our military in the hospital during Christmas. Afterwards, we went to eat with our group and I got the privilege of sitting next to a young man who is the son of a couple in our group. He had just recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq with the US Army. He spoke in great detail of his experiences there and how proud he was to be able to serve his country in that way. That caroling experience and my conversation at dinner with this young service man were the inspiration for the song, “Miss You This Christmas.” My friend Bill Born at Trinity Church, Redlands CA www.trinityonline.org recorded this on December 18, 2007 and Bruce Herwig put together the video. The photos were gathered from all over the internet. He told me that putting faces to the lyrics was a humbling experience. It made the sacrifices much more real. I think that we’ve all realized in a new and fresh way that freedom isn’t free…it comes at a great cost. I think of this song as a Christmas gift to our soldiers. beautiful. my husband is currently in iraq. our first christmas as man and wife…& we are together through these holidays if only in our hearts. i miss him each and every day. god bless all!

My brother is in Iraq. This song made me cry. Please pray for him, and other soldiers too. Saying goodbye is hard. God bless all of the soldiers risking their lives… And god bless the families. Because giving a member of the family, is hard. The last time I saw him was, in September on my birthday. He left on that day. Please pray for them. Because they truly need it
. He was also in a bombing. He is okay. But is not coming home. God bless you all

This is beautiful. I am a very proud parent of a Marine. I support the troops and all they do for our country. Because of the brave men and women out there, I am free. I hope everyone realizes that they are the ones who pay the price for we civilians. My heart goes out to the family of these brave people.

That was beautiful Tony. Paul and I lost our beautiful nephew Marine Lance Corporal Richey Quill in Iraq in Feb. and its so nice to know people outside the families appreciate their sacrifice.
