Is a heart locket necklace an appropriate birthday gift for my girlfriend?

I am in a new relationship (2 months) and her birthday is next month. I want to buy her this heart locket necklace. Inside the locket I want to put a picture of both of us. Is this appropriate as a birthday gift? Because her birthday is a celebration of HER not us, so I don’t want to do anything tacky or out of place.
Or should I just get her a necklace personalized with HER name only?

A heart locket with a picture of you BOTH is a perfect birthday gift for her if you are getting serious. If things are still on the casual side, it may be a bit much. If you are both in love and the relationship is serious, I can’t think of a more perfect gift.

the heart locket idea is really cute. but i would get it with just her name. and dont put i love you on it…kinda tacky

I bet this is not a popular answer, but, in my opinion, leave the locket empty and let her ask for your picture. I expect she will want to do that. But perhaps family pictures instead. Who knows?
Once you give a gift, it is up to the recipient to decide what do do with it.
Do the gracious thing and let her choose.

A heart shaped locket with a photo both of you inside is a very strong declaration of your feelings. So the question is, would you be thinking of giving her something like this if it were NOT her birthday? If the answer is no, then think of something else.

If you are ready to discuss the “L” word, then give the heart with both your pictures. Hearts represent love. If you aren’t ready- choose an oval locket instead.
A name necklace is sweet too.

Before u spend a fortune, u only know her 2 mo. remember this a gift, if u 2 no longer together u can not get that back.
