When is the ideal time to visit after a death?

My cousin’s, whom I was very close with during childhood, grandmother passed away yesterday. I was also very close to her mother (my aunt) even after her and my uncle divorced. I would really like to visit to express my sympathy, but I don’t know when too soon is too soon! Thankfully, I’m not very familiar with how to handle this type of situation. Also, should I just show up, or should I bring a gift (plant, flowers, etc) with me? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What do i say to my friend who lost their dad?

I feel so bad.. I just do not know what to say. I am writing a sympathy card, and I want it to be nice.. not just “sorry for your loss.”

if anyone lost a parent..(i am sorry).. but what are some comforting things people said or did for you?

My friend got murdered a week and a half ago. He was his mother’s only child. Since Mother’s Day is coming up what would be an appropriate gift to send her? I was thinking of a certificate to get a facial? I plan on mailing her a card so it needs to be something that can fit in the card. Please let me know all your ideas. Thanks. (I saw her the day of his visitation & gave her flowers & I’ve also send her a sympathy card. He meant a lot to me & my family & his family are very close.)

One of my employees just lost a family member. i want to send a sympathy gift but everything has the word heaven in it. Do they believe the soul goes to heaven? or should i stay away from that kind of gift??

My father’s best friend and wife were supposed to attend our wedding. The week before, they notified us that they couldn’t come because the man’s father was gravely ill. The week after the wedding, the father passed away. I’m now writing the thank you note for the gift that the couple sent. Should/can I also offer condolences within the same card, or do I have to send a separate sympathy card? If I did that, would it be strange to not say anything in the thank you note?
