Birthday gift for an 8 year old girl that Ive never met?

One of my good friends got married about 2 years ago and tomorrow she’s having a birthday party for her husbands daughter from a previous marriage. I don’t know anything about this girl but think it’d be rude to show up without a gift. Any ideas?

money, just put a $10-$20 in a nice card so she can spend it on what she wants, that way you dont come empty handed but you also dont bring something that she would never play with.

My daughter is 10 and still plays with barbies but its unusual for kids over 6 to like barbies.

How much to you want to spend?
I would stay away from dolls unless you know she still likes them,
You could get her some stuff for her hair, like go to the dollar store or something, find a cute little basket and put a hair brush, maybe a little mirror and some random hair ties and clips and stuff. Maybe some flavored chapsticks, since winter is coming but I wouldn’t get any other kind of makeup or anything unless you know shes allowed. Maybe even some cute socks. they always have funny/cute socks at the dollar store. could make up a basket full of fun little things for less then $20
I wouldnt do money. For older kids money is great, they like knowing they can get whatever they want, but at 8 its still fun to see how many presents you get and stuff.
